Denim Care & Wash
Selecting Your Denim
First, thank you for choosing Charles Miller Brand Denim. We are honored you chose us to play a part in your denim journey. For the best experience before placing an order, don’t hesitate to contact us for a personal fitting consultation.
Breaking In Your Denim
If the denim fits tight, it fits right. Upon trying denim on, it will be well fitted. Give it 10 minutes, walk around, sit down; this breaks your new denim in as they conform to your body. True to size. Follow return procedures if the size/fit you received is not working after performing the 10-minute break-in process.
There are lots of schools of thought on the best ways to break in a new pair of denim. For us, we choose to integrate the new denim into our normal lifestyle, putting them to the test of your everyday adventures. Don’t baby them!
Taking Care Of Your Denim
Personalize your denim through the personality of your daily journey. The more you wear without washing, the better story your denim tells. We highly recommend four to six months of constant wear without washing for the best results in the character of your raw denim. In the case that you need to remove a stain, use a damp cloth and rub the area.
CMBD Tip: If you decide to wash your denim prior to the character building (too early), the indigo will bleed out evenly over the whole pair, and you may not have any unique contrast.
When it comes time to wash your denim, we recommend either of these methods:
Hand Wash (preferred method): In a bathtub of cool water (about 3-4 inches deep), mix in a small amount of mild strength laundry detergent specifically designed to preserve darker colors. Be mindful of the laundry detergent used - cautioning those with sensitive skin and be sure to stay away from detergent that includes bleach.
Lay your raw denim inside out and flat in the bathtub and submerge them in the water by placing heavy objects on top. Let your denim soak for 45 minutes. Rinse with cool water to remove soap. Remove from water and hang dry (make sure you stretch the inseam before laying out to dry to avoid too much shrinkage). Do not wring out your denim; do not tumble dry.
Machine Wash: To wash your well-worn denim, turn them inside out and wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Use mild strength laundry detergent specifically designed to preserve darker colors. Be mindful of the laundry detergent used - cautioning those with sensitive skin and be sure to stay away from detergent that includes bleach. Remove from washing machine and hang dry (make sure you stretch the inseam before laying out to dry to avoid too much shrinkage). Do not wring out your denim; do not tumble dry.
